Josh King- Our humble Head Brewer. He has been handcrafting Sockeye beer since its beginning in 1996. His hard work and dedication are why we’re all here serving and sharing pints of Idaho’s #1 Beer. Cheers, Josh… and thank you. Enough said.
Zach has been General Manager at Sockeye since 2003. He brings to Sockeye over 26 years of restaurant experience.
He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys disk golf, hiking, skiing and Mountain Biking.
Kevin was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan and began home brewing soon after experiencing the full flavors of micro beers in the late 1980’s. His professional life opened up the minute he was hired as an assistant brewer here in Boise in 1996. He has been fortunate to be surrounded by the best of peers, professionals and people while he continued to learn and grow as a person and a craftsman. “I am proud to be living in Idaho where barley is abundant, hops are rising, and beers are enjoyed fully.” -Kevin Bolen
Dawn graduated from Boise State in 2000 with a BA in Biology and an endorsement in Secondary Education. She has worked for over 20 years in microbreweries as a bartender, trainer, manager and lab assistant. She loves camping, skiing and road trips with her husband and three great kids. She is originally from Michigan and has been loving life in Idaho since 1995 when adventure brought her here. She has merged her education, science background and her knowledge of craft beer here in Boise and is looking forward to a bright future representing Sockeye Brewing and Idaho’s craft beer.
Brad graduated from Boise State’s University Culinary Arts Program. He has worked in many familiar local kitchens; The Gamekeeper, Murphys, The Ram, and Redfish Lodge as well as fine dining in Kansas City and the Reno-Tahoe area.
His Spare time is filled with food as well, as his sweetheart is also a Chef in our community. Brad loves his Harley, and BSU. Come on in and say hello to Brad.
Assistant Brewer, Apprentice.
Cory Walz- Is originally from Eugene Oregon and of course, is a huge Ducks fan. He has been living here in Boise for 8 years and has been working in the brewery for a couple years already. He is the newest brewer-in-training and has recently added the professional pleasure of making batches of our great brew from start to finish. He’s been a lover of craft beers for fifteen years and enjoys drinking them as much as he enjoys eating… a lot. He is an avid rafter, mountain biker, and loves long walks on the beach. His favorite place to be is in the mountains or of course, on the river. His hope for the future of Sockeye is for us to continue to grow and to reach more beer lovers everywhere.
Tylar is originally from Burley, Idaho and has been living in Boise for 8 years. He is one of the faces you will see out in the community and is a fantastic sales representative. His love of craft beer goes back fifteen years when he first began crushing cans. He enjoys biking, snowboarding and sub sandwiches. His favorite place to be is anywhere with his family. He wants to see Sockeye become Idaho’s “Go To” beer, and with his great work, that won’t take long!
Todd is one of our outstanding sales representatives you will see out and about. Originally from beautiful Long Beach, California, he has been in Boise for 7 years. He has loved beer since his first 40oz O.E. He enjoys fly fishing, walking his dogs and kicking it at home, tipping backyard beers. His favorite place to be is on the couch with his fiancé and their two French Bulldogs. His ambition and drive will help Sockeye Brewing continue is to grow and serve awesome, outstanding craft beers.
Tim is our new addition to an already outstanding brewery crew. He is an experienced brewer home grown right here in Boise. Tim was born in West Germany while his father was in the Army, but moved to the Blackfoot/Idaho Falls area at a very early age and remained there throughout his childhood. He is a proud Vandal, graduating from University of Idaho. In 1993, Tim moved to Boise and tipped back his first micro beer at TableRock Brew Pub on New Years’ Day. He was hooked, started working there soon after, and eventually began brewing professionally in 1998. Tim enjoys golfing, the Boston Bruins, and also loves the Red Sox, which explains why his favorite place to be is Fenway Park. He loves spending time watching sports with his wife and getting out there to catch a game in the stands.
Tim is excited to catch the wave of continued growth with us here at Sockeye Brewing. He’s ready to get back in to canning, and is eager to watch Sockeye’s production success rise. He sees unique brews in the future, including a desire for sours, barrel aging and limited runs on creatively handcrafted ales and lagers.
Paul was born in Philly, but grew up here in Boise, Idaho from a very early age. After he graduated from Boise High, Paul moved to Colorado in1990 and began brewing with Breckenridge. Over the years, Paul has developed a seasoned professional knowledge of craft brewing, and we are ecstatic to have him join our superb Brew Crew. Paul remembers drinking his first craft beer from bottles right out of Caldwell from Idaho’s original Snake River Brewing. He recalls they used to print the batch numbers on the bottles, and he used to grab a six-pack form the Boise Co-op when it was still on Hill Road. How’s that for a throw back!
Paul’s favorite things are camping and hanging with his family, snowboarding, and enjoying the great outdoors. His favorite place to be is up at Bogus Basin with a board on his feet and a brew in his hand. He’s been trying to make his way back to Boise with his wife and two sons and Sockeye is overjoyed to be able to offer his family this opportunity. He is looking forward to seeing Sockeye Brewing grow as a force in the Northwestern region of this great USA, and to be known beyond our borders as Idaho’s Beer.
