An Imperial Red Ale modeled on an Old Fashioned cocktail, brewed with copious amounts of El Dorado hops for zesty and pithy tangerine notes, and then aged one year in Texas bourbon barrels with house candied sweet orange peel, house brandied cherries grown in Emmett, ID, and house made aromatic bitters. This crimson hued nectar exhibits complex malt layers woven with the whiskey richness, graham cracker, black fig, raw honey, and vanilla bean greet the palate before a wash of medicinal herbs, walnut, and minerality from the bitters. Finally, gooey dark cherry and port wine character emerges with the warming alcohol on the finish, patiently accompanied by bittersweet oily orange and a sturdy viscous wooden hug.
